First Week of Workshops: Scrapbooking and Education of the Voice

This past week marked the first week of my workshops. Through SOL, I had the opportunity to sign up for some workshops offered through the city of Granada. The workshops are very diverse, ranging from yoga and martial arts to cookie decorating and watercolor painting. After much deliberation, I decided to sign up for Scrapbooking and Education of the Voice. I had my first scrapbooking workshop last Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. It was very fun and I learned a new way to dye paper for scrapbooking pages.images (6) There are only five of us in the class and I am the only non-Spaniard and the only student. Although that made me nervous at first, it turned out to be wonderful because I am immersed in real Spanish and they work with me to help me understand and learn more Spanish. On Thursday I had Educación de la Voz, which I did not end up liking as much as my scrapbooking class. I think part of that is due to the fact that it is from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, which is a little difficult to sit through at such a late part of the day. Secondly, I thought it would be a singing or choir class, but it’s actually more of a public-speaking class. That is my mistake in misunderstanding the intention of the class. Nonetheless, I think as long as I bring a pick-me-up snack for halfway through the workshop, I will still really enjoy the class. Even if it is not singing, I can at least learn how to pronounce more correctly in Spanish and work on public speaking in a whole different language
