Just as the title suggests, today was a wonderful and very surprising day! Yesterday was my exam, on Thanksgiving, and I think it went pretty well. I knew right after that the reading portion (with comprehension questions), and the listening portion were the hardest. The rest seemed okay.
So today in class we got the test back and I actually did pretty well, but bad on one portion. There were five parts to the test and all portions out of 10. For the oral portion, I got a 9. Yay! When I was doing the oral portion with my professor, we just talked about my life, how I like Spain, and a little bit about back home. So that went well! The next portion was auditory, listening to people talk in a video and then filling out questions based on the video. During the test, I thought this portion was the most difficult. I thought I didn’t know what the people were talking about in the video, because they talk so fast. But SOMEHOW, no idea how, I got a 9 on this portion as well. Pure luck that I got 9 out of the 10 questions correct. I had pretty much guessed on all of them. The next portion was the multiple choice portion. Here I got a 9.2 out of 10. It was very easy. And, I love love love writing so the writing portion was a 9 out of 10 too. Very good on on these four portions! Then came the reading portion. For some reason, I am not as good at reading as I thought I was. I love reading, but when it comes to finding out main ideas or answering questions about reading, I guess it’s not very good. Just like with my MTLE testing in Minnesota for my education, I passed Writing and Math, but not the reading portion. I have to take the reading portion again. Well, on this test, I only got a 4 out of 10 from the reading portion. It’s cause there were so many words in the reading we’ve never learned, so much vocab I had no idea what they meant. So averaging these all out, I got a 7.8 on the test, which still is a B but not as good as I wanted to get. It’s just cause the 4 put my average really low. But, the rest of the portions were good and now I know what I have to work on.
For the final overall grade in the class, which is what matters most, the test only counts for a certain percentage, and the rest of the class grade is from attendance, homework, participation, being prepared, etc. Because of this, despite my 7.8 on the test, I GOT A 9.5 IN THE OVERALL CLASS!!!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!!! First month I got an 8, then a 9 (which I thought was nearly impossible), and now I got a 9.5! When my teacher showed me I was shocked, and I said, “Really??” And she said, “YES!” She told me that I have good attendance, my homework is always done, my writing assignments have been really good, and I participate. So, when they say the test isn’t everything, they were right. And I was very surprised, but one happy camper. Marisa thought a 9 last month was great, and she said we can celebrate tomorrow! 🙂
Also, just this year they started to have BLACK FRIDAY in Granada. I had no idea until I saw it in the paper today. Matthew and I went and looked around at some stores, and all had so many great sales. I got two shirts for only 7 euros each, earrings for 3 euros, and one thicker wool sweater for 20. Some stores though, the most popular ones, were so busy we had to leave. People were pushing and shoving and I couldn’t even get through the store. We just had to turn right around. But, that’s what home is like on Black Friday too.
But, what a great start to the weekend, Thanksgiving in Granada, test, got some shopping done…and to top it off, I have no class Monday! Tuesday I start level 5.
Hasta luego! 🙂
