Hola, a todos!
It was one heck of a first day in Heredia. I woke up this morning and checked out the view from my new home since it was dark when I got in last night–and what a view it is!
After getting dressed I met my roomates Kailey and Sarah downstairs for breakfast. We had toast with peanut butter and different fruit spreads before my Papá Tica drove me to be dropped off at the University where I met up with all of my Sol-Mates and Directors for the Summer IV session to do our Tropical Rainforest Canopy Tour at la Parque Aventura San Luis. We all climbed aboard the bus and were off! It was about a 1.5 hour drive to the city of San Ramón where we stopped to take a bathroom break and check out the supermercado before our trek through the mountains. We took beautiful winding (quite frankly terrifying) roads up and through the mountains and at some points I’m pretty sure we drove through the clouds.
Finally we reached our destination and all got harnessed in.
This is when the fun began, and since pictures are worth a thousand words, I will let them do the talking.

It was an unbelievable experience facing my fear of heights. I decided before I came here not to let any fear that I have hold me back from any kind of experience–and I am so glad that I did. It was great to feel my heart pounding out of my chest, feel my legs shaking even after being back on solid ground for a good ten minutes and being able to scream that scream that can only come with an adrenaline rush.
After all of the excitement we ate lunches that our Mamás Ticas had packed for us and then loaded back on the bus for our return journey. The ride back was much longer than the ride there due to traffic. Today is the last day of a two week vacation for all of the students in Costa Rica so a lot of people were traveling back home.
Once we made it back home I was warmly greeted my Familia Tica and my roommates and we shared a great dinner together!
I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings.
