This past weekend, we went on an excursion to La Fortuna Waterfall, and I have to say it was one of the prettiest sights I have ever seen. I have to say that I did not enjoy climbing the 500+ stairs to get to the actual waterfall, but given the option, I would go see it again! (So the steps really can’t be that bad, right?!)
After making the trek down, our group went swimming in a VERY cold river. We waded upstream and found some cool rocks to lounge on that overlooked the waterfall. It was an absolutely beautiful view, and I highly recommend it to anyone even considering traveling to Costa Rica.
After visiting the waterfall, we made our way to Los Lagos Resort to visit the hot springs. I was very surprised by them, if I am being honest. I think when I heard the word “hot springs”, I pictured pools of water with geysers spouting out and steam surrounding the pools. However, that it most definitely not what we experienced. I believe a better term for these hot springs would be glorified hot tubs. Don’t get me wrong, they were still incredible, and I would most definitely love to return to the resort to explore some more!
After exploring the various hot springs, err excuse me- glorified hot tubs, our group got changed for dinner. It was really delicious! It reminded me very much of a typical dinner here in Costa Rica. (I ate a lot of bread.)
After dinner, we had SO much fun. A few of us went to a bar to sing Karaoke. The bar was basically empty except for our group so we were able to sing song after song after song. It was so much fun! Until the bar became incredibly crowded with people…
I have to say that, overall, this was an incredible excursion, and I highly recommend these activities! I just hope for your sake, your legs are in much better shape than mine were… Say hello to lots of stairs and mountains!! Good luck!!
