Last weekend I had the chance to get out of the city and go up north to see the famous Iguazu Falls. The trip was amazing and has been my favorite part of the semester so far. Iguazu Falls are located on the border of Argentina and Brazil, and can be viewed from both sides, however, I only saw the Argentinian side of the falls. I traveled to Puerto Iguazu by airplane and I am so happy that I bought those last minute tickets, because it is an experience that cannot be missed for any traveler in Argentina!
The falls are in a national park filled with many animals and a lot of wildlife. My favorite animal is butterflies and I was in awe when I saw all the hundreds of colorful butterflies flitting around the park. In addition, there were also monkeys, parrots, and cute coatis present everywhere, making the hiking trails more lively and interesting. Travelers to the park can walk a few different trails that have amazing views of the falls and the river. I really enjoyed walking and taking an insane amount of pictures, especially because it was a beautiful and sunny day when I visited.
Although I love Buenos Aires, this short weekend trip inspired me to spend more time getting out of the city and to plan more weekend trips. I don’t know where I will go next but I am looking forward to making the most of my time in South America!
