When visiting Spain, it is essential to visit the Alhambra. This magnificent fortress dates back to the 9th century and has quite an interesting history. It stands on top of a rocky hill, which overlooks the entire city of Granada. It was strategically placed near the banks of a river, surrounded by the forest and mountains. The hike up to the Alhambra was beautiful but steep. It was a Muslim court throughout the 13th century but later was conquered by Catholic Monarchs in 1429. It is now the most visited monument in Spain! It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is beautifully intricate with amazing gardens and fountains. All of the carved ceilings and archways will leave you in constant awe of its boundless beauty. A picture says a thousand words but these photos could never do it justice. You’ll just have to see it for yourself!
